The Black Valley Railroad, cont.


This is what I previously thought was the main sandbank for the furnace operations. Sand would have been taken down by cart over the bank (behind me here) to the railroad. I had thought that this was the main source of sand, until I found what's in the next picture...


Not far down the road from the previous picture, I found what is unmistakenly a sand bank. The sand is rather fine, and may have also been used for the glass factory that was in Everett at the time. More pics of this sandbank:

Left: Just outside the main sandbank, is this smaller one right along the road. My van can be seen at the far left of the picture, sitting in the entrance to the main bank. Right: Sand still washes out of the banks from the rains, and gathers along the road.
