The Black Valley Railroad, cont.
Standing at the location of the main sand pit, looking across the road. It is my belief that this farm may have been a little community as well at the time of the railroad. The railroad would have passed right through it.
A smaller pit, directly across from the driveway of the farm in the previous picture, and down the road from the main sand pit. Probably a "test pit", where they were checking for the presence of sand, limestone, and iron ore.
Until further information is found, and more pictures are taken, this concludes the tour of the Black Valley Railroad. I hope to someday acquire permission from the various landowners along the right-of-way, to further explore and get more pictures. I'd also like to do further research to find out some more concrete facts about the line, if it's possible.
If anyone reading this can help out in any way in regards to the above, it would be much appreciated. I'm also interested in hearing your comments on this little virtual tour. Click here to drop me a line.
